I’ve been in Cognos BI development for ten years for companies including Concur Technologies and Costco Wholesale. In total, I’ve been working in IT for 17 years with diverse positions from sales engineering to technical marketing and technical training. I have also owned my own business, Johnsonium Web Solutions for the last seven years. We develop Internet solutions for various local Seattle-area businesses including database development, Web site design, social media marketing, and technical training.

This Project

Recently, I’ve been working extensively integrating JavaScript into Cognos to address gaps in its functionality as well as to provide improved usability and a more dynamic and modern UI experience. This site was started to share what I’ve learned about Cognos with the extended community of Cognos developers.

The Future

I have big plans for the site, long-term, including a modular JavaScript library that will make extending Cognos accessible to more people, even to developers who don’t have a programming background. In addition, I have had some success integrating jQuery into Cognos to provide exciting capabilities with minimal coding. I plan to eventually include these findings in the site, providing even more flexibility to the adventurous Cognos BI developer.
